1. About Jotzi

Jotzi is a productivity application that helps you capture notes (Jotzis), set reminders, share notes with other Jotzi users, and find information you have already saved.

Jotzi is operated by Kistna Inc. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@jotzi.ca.

2. Information We Collect

We collect and process the information needed to provide Jotzi. Depending on how you use the app, that may include:

• Account information, such as your email address, display name, and a user ID associated with your account.
• Jotzi content, meaning the notes and related material you create. Note content is stored using Firebase/Firestore and is associated with your account.
• Reminder information you attach to notes, including time-based reminders and, if you use them, contextual reminders.
• Voice information, if you record a Voice Note. Audio may be processed temporarily so it can be transcribed into text.
• Location information, if you use location-aware reminders, so a reminder can appear in context.
• Sharing information, such as a recipient’s email address or account identifier, when you share a Jotzi.
• Subscription and entitlement information needed to provide paid features on your account. Apple processes App Store payments. Jotzi does not receive or store your full payment card details from Apple.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to operate Jotzi, including to:

• Create and authenticate your account.
• Save, sync, and display your Jotzis.
• Provide reminders, including contextual reminders when you use that feature.
• Process voice transcription when you record a Voice Note.
• Provide Ask Jotzi and Smart Memory when you choose to use those features.
• Enable sharing with the people you select.
• Manage subscription entitlements.
• Respond to support requests sent to support@jotzi.ca.
• Operate, maintain, and help protect the security of the service.

Under current practices, we do not use this information for advertising.

4. AI-Assisted Features

Ask Jotzi and Smart Memory are optional features. When you use them, relevant saved Jotzi content may be processed so the feature can respond. That processing may be carried out using OpenAI as a technology provider, through Jotzi’s server-side systems.

OpenAI does not own your Jotzis. Ask Jotzi works with the Jotzis you have saved. It does not search the public internet.

These features are productivity tools. Their output can be incomplete or incorrect, and they are not a substitute for your own review of important information.

5. Voice Notes and Transcription

If you record a Voice Note, the audio may be processed temporarily for transcription so the note can be stored as useful text.

Under current practices, Jotzi does not keep voice recordings as a permanent cloud voice-file library.

6. Location-Based Reminders

If you use contextual or location-aware reminders, Jotzi may use device location so a note can surface when you are in a relevant place. Location access is controlled through your device permissions, and you can change or withdraw that permission in your device settings.

Under current practices, location is not used for advertising. Whether a reminder appears also depends on the operating system, notification settings, and whether location is available to the device at that time.

7. Sharing

When you share a Jotzi, the selected recipient can access the shared content. That is how sharing works: the note leaves your list in the sense that another person can see it, while you keep the original in your account.

You can remove or stop sharing using the controls available in the app.

8. Subscriptions and Payments

If you subscribe to paid Jotzi features on iOS, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. Kistna Inc. stores and uses entitlement information so those features can be provided on your account.

Kistna Inc. does not receive or store your full payment card details from Apple. Apple’s own terms and privacy practices apply to App Store billing.

9. Service Providers

We use other companies to help operate Jotzi. Where relevant to this policy, that currently includes:

• Google Firebase, for account-related infrastructure and storage of Jotzi content.
• OpenAI, for Ask Jotzi, Smart Memory, and applicable transcription processing.
• Apple, for App Store purchasing and related subscription processing.

These providers process information as needed to provide their services to Jotzi.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Your Jotzis remain associated with your account while the account is active, subject to the following.

If you delete a note, it may remain in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days. During that period you can restore it, or permanently delete it sooner. Ordinary archived notes are not deleted merely because they are archived.

Jotzi provides Download My Data in the app so you can export a copy of your Jotzi data.

Jotzi also provides an in-app Delete Account function. When you delete your account, we delete account information and associated content as part of that process. Some information may remain for a limited time where needed for security, legal obligations, completing processing already underway, or backups.

11. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information used in Jotzi. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed in an unauthorized way.

12. Children’s Privacy

Jotzi is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older. Jotzi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate consent from a parent or guardian.

If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to Jotzi without appropriate consent, please contact us at support@jotzi.ca.

13. International Processing

Jotzi uses infrastructure from providers such as Google (Firebase), OpenAI, and Apple. Information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your own.

14. User Choices and Controls

You have controls over how Jotzi uses certain information:

• Device permissions, including location and microphone access, through your device settings.
• Sharing controls in the Jotzi app.
• Download My Data, available from account controls in the app.
• Delete Account, available from account controls in the app.
• Subscription management and cancellation through your Apple ID / App Store settings.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. Please review this page periodically so you stay informed about how we handle information.
